Jonas Brothers RJ #8

Dear Mrs. Zrihen,

I finished reading JONAS BROTHERS by: Maggie Marron. The genre of this book is biography. I got this book on my own because I used to LOVE the Jonas brothers so I thought it would be cool to read about them to get more insight about them. I thought since I was reading about them I should do some research too. Throughout those 3 days I learned a lot about the Jonas Brothers, My favorite part of the book was when Nick got diabetes, not in a cold mean horrible way, I liked it because that was one of the most emotional times in their lives and they wanted to do something about it, they did benefit concerts for research and donated money, a lot of money, so that just showed how grateful and generous they are.

I used six strategies while reading this book, two before, two during, and two after. The two before are: 1) I read the prologue. 2) I looked at the table of contents to see what each chapter was about. The two during: 1) I read all of the subtitles and quick facts (there were a lot, and they were very helpful) 2) I summarized what I had just read. The two after: 1) I summarized the whole book in my head. 2) I discussed it with my mom. These strategies where very helpful while reading.

The main idea of the book was talking about the Jonas brothers and how it all began up until chapter 3. I learned a lot while reading like, Nick got discovered in a barber shop, then went to Broadway and soon after his brothers did too, then they all went to TV ( commercials) but they weren’t done on Broadway. Then, when Nick had to make a Christmas album for Broadway that got into the hands of Steve Greenberg otherwise known as the CEO of Columbia records! The brothers formed a band The Jonas Brothers. At first they were so excited they started writing song after song but the company kept rejecting every song so they had song specialist wright their songs but their producers never liked it but finally it took almost a year for then to release their album and a lot of the songs were covered from other bands the album was called: It's About Time, not just because it took forever for them to release their album it's also because all of the songs on the album where about time with songs like: 6 minutes , year 3000, 7:05, Time for me to fly. The album was a huge..... FLOP! Selling a disappointing number of 62,000 copies. Then Columbia dumped them, so they had a very disappointing holiday season, but in February 2007 Hollywood Records also known as Disney a way more successful and powerful company signed them and made there album: Jonas Brothers and took them less then half the time it took them at Columbia records. Their record was a huge.... SUCSESS! They were on there way. Then made Camp Rock, Jonas, Jonas L.A, Camp Rock 2 , and Jonas brothers living the dream.

The text features of this book are the table of contents, bold faced words, a lot of pictures, a bunch of captions and a bunch of quick facts.

The book is written in 3rd person point of view because some one was narrating. There were similes, and metaphors (because the boys were compared to a lot of things)

Now, Joe is a solo singer and has just released his second album. Nick is now a music producer ( he discovered China Anne Mclain as a singer) Kevin is now happily married.

If I were to choose another name for this book I would name it Jonas Brothers living the dream. The authors purpose was to inform.

I would rate this book 10-10 because it reminded me about on of my favorite celebrity’s and it had captions and quick facts.

I recommend this book to girls ages 12-16 that enjoy reading about there favorite past celebs.

Sincerely,
Shianne Salazar

P.s. I'm listening to them right now!

I love your readers journal. Do you know where the boys were born? What was their mom and dad’s name?
Were there any more people in this book then them? Would you recommend this book to girls that are not a fan of Jonas? What was your favorite passage? Other than that you did a great job!
