Dear Mrs Zrhien,

I currently finished: BILL Pete: An autobiography By: Bill Pete. Bill Pete is a well-known children's book author that was good friends with Walt Disney. He actually worked for Walt for 27 years. His life-span was from January 29, 1915- May 11, 2002. For Disney he worked on

14 movies, including Alice in wonderland & Cinderella. He is an amazing illustrator his pictures where fantastic! And I thought it was cool that every page had drawing and there were no “chapters” in the book.

Two before:

1. I read about him online
2. I went on a website about the book to see what other people thought about it.

Two during:

1. I studied the illustrations.

1. if I did not understand something I would re-read it

Two after:

1. I summarized the book in my head
2. I discussed it with my mom

The P.O.O. Is chronological order because it was going by time. The sub- P.O.O. Is time sequence. The genre of this book is Non-Fiction. The sub-genre of this book is autobiography. The P.O.V. Is 1^st person because the main character was speaking. The authors purpose was to entertain reader's with his story.

This book was very specific about his life, but in a good way I now realize. I thought it was so cool that he worked with Walt Disney, and that back-in-the twenties it cost five cents for a box of Cracker Jack and other things that would cost $1-$5 today & that he is such a good illustrator! I liked the drawings of famous Disney Cartoons, & the fact that they looked exactly as put in the movie (because he he helped make the story board!). His father was mean and money hungry, he and his brother's got along well, he was never good in school, he even failed completely (except P.E.) with straight Fs. He went to art but had to leave because he could not afford it, then he started working for Disney as a in-betweener just drawing Donald Duck al day, then got moved to story board, and it started from there.

He used “fancy” words that, at first to me, did not make any sense in-which they were placed until I re-read them. The figurative language are: Similes & Metaphors.

I would rate this book 8/10. It was great and so were the drawings but sometimes he got a little too detailed and I would lose interest once & a while. I would recommend this to kids ages 8-15 who like to read about authors/ autobiographies.

I currently finished reading: The History of the World According to Facebook. By: Wylie Overstreet. This book explained the history of the world from The Singularity all the way to Osama Bin Laden's death. I thought it was so cool that the author made the whole thing look like a Facebook page.

I used 6 strategies while reading: 2 before, 2 during & 2 after.

The 2 before:

1. I read reviews online
2. I skim & scanned the book. I saw the cover looked like a facebook page & and it said in the corner, A PARODRY!!!. So I instantly knew it was going to be a funny book. And as I read I realized it was a parody of things that happened through time, but the vents were real.

The 2 during:

1. After every “post” I read the “comments” to see if I had already learned this part of history.
2. After every time section I read I summarized it

The 2 after:

1. I read the conclusion
2. I discussed it with my mom.

The P.O.O is linear. The P.O.V is 1^st person because every comment was written in 1^st person like a facebook comment. The genre of this book is Informational. The sub-genres are non-fiction & humor.

The book startes from The Singularity then goes from when God made light, Dinosaurs, Adam & Eve, Ancient Egypt, Jesus, The Dark Ages, The Renaissance, then goes to modern day culture.

I would rate this book 7/10 because, although it was funny and I learned a lot, most of the things if I didn't already know it, I would probably not know whats going on, so some things I had to look up, but in hien sight I learned a ton. I would recommend this book to people who believe in God ( only because he was mentioned very often), & people who enjoy humor, ages 15-67 I do not recommend it too much to kids.

The author’s purpose for writing this article is to inform people that by 2017 Virgin Galactic , it is expected for people to go into space just as if you are booking a flight. It does speak about other places such as XCOR, but the article focuses on Virgin Galactic.

The author’s perspective in this article is objective/subjective, objective, he does not put a side.

The reason the author chose this pattern for the article is: because he is just listing facts about the article, not putting an opinion.

This article is about booking a flight to space, it details about Ms. Culver, a woman who works with NASA that wanted to go up in space, she applied 4 times to become an astronaut but was declined all 4, so she is one of those people that will book a flight to space.

The significance (importance) of this article is that finally after years of thinking about going into space just like booking a flight will come as soon as 2013 ( XCOR).

What I learned from this article is that we are slowly but surely you leaping into the future, by enhancing the average person to be able to go with the space without the training of an astronaut.

What I liked about this article was the topic, I would've never thought that the average person would be able to go up into space,just as if they were booking a flight.

I didn't like the fact that it was badly organized, and the fact that there was no source.

The slightly wealthy people that are interested in going into space but are not interested in becoming an astronaut should read this article and find out how they can book a flight to space.

This article reminds me of (text-to-self) my sister who always wanted to go for the space but never one to become an astronaut.

(Text-to-text) I didn't know anything about these plans XCOR, Virgin Galactic, and Space Adventures we're making plans to let anyone as long as they can afford it go up with the space as if they were booking a flight.

(text-to-world) it is at least good to know ( from limited time only though) XCOR, Virgin Galactic, and Space Adventures will refund him with all the deposits if someone wants to cancel.

Dear Mrs. Zrihen,

I am currently reading: Maximum Ride:Saving the world and other extreme sports. By: James Patterson. This is book number three in the maximum ride series. Yes, I have read a book 1 and two. So far my favorite part of the book is when Fang and Max kissed. This is my favorite part because, the book has little bit of romance, but there is still tension. James Patterson has written many books he's my favorite author I plan on reading: Witch and Wizard one of his other series.

I use four strategies while reading this book to before and to during, I haven't done any strategies after because I am still reading this book it is over 300 pages to be exact it is 405.

The two before are:

1. I read book 1 and two.

2. I read the synopsis, this was one of most interesting synopsis and I've ever read it with a bullet point/list.

The two during are:

1)I made visualizations

2. after every chapter I read a summarized, the chapters are very very short with the longest to want was probably only five pages. So I get a lot of summarizing.

The pattern organization is chronological order,it is this because it is going by time as everything goes on. The genre of this book is science fiction. In a science-fiction because mad scientists have created Hybird kids, and they plan on creating a new world like cutting it in half. The sub genre is fantasy. The author's purpose was to entertain with a suspenseful book with a great story behind it.

This book takes place, right where book to left off. It leaves off when the flock finds the 80s love fan and charts away with it. They're now in Texas and Fang wants to go to a football game. Max says no but everyone eggs on, she finally agrees to it for when they get there with the whole audience notices them from the newspaper as the “ the bird kids”. They fly up in the air than the fire Canyon. They're all hungry nowhere to go there back on the run. Max's voice comes back telling her on to save the world. She is upset when she hears the voice back then the voice tells it with all the racers are terminated. Fang comes up with the idea for them to stop being on the run and find a home, after they find out” the lab coats” want to blow up the world and make half of its population. Everyone loves the idea except for Max everyone tries to convince her but she still says no then Fang attempts to convince her and it starts working but here it's mad and tells them

that she hates him and then flies away. He follows her then they're stuck there for the night. They have to be correct, that is to show how hungry they are. He charged to convince Max by kissing her. She lets him. They spend the night there. But while that's going on Nudge, Iggy, the Gasman, and Angel are alone, Iggy is blind, even though we hear the same age as Max and Fang he can't really help the kids. Erasers , and capture them except they're not Erasers they are robots Eracers which Iggy soon calls” flyboys”. They take them to the school. Meanwhile, Max and saying our doctor Martinez's house trying to get her chip adds Dr. Martinez tells her that there is a risk that if she takes at the chip she will lose the use of her left arm which she does Max and the Frank soon make it to the school and their captured just like a Iggy, the gasman, and Nudge. When they are all captured the white coats lie and tell them the past five years have all been a dream. They should escape the school out, that it was not just a dream they leave with the Ari, which no member of the flock should is happy about it except for Angel and Max, no one else on the flock besides the two will admit that Ari saved their lives.

So far the figurative language are similes and metaphors,so far I would rate it five out of five I like how descriptive it is. this is as far as I got into the book I will post the second half of this journal next week.

I currently finished reading, How I survived middle school: Can you get an F in lunch? By: Nancy Krulik. This is book one in the How I survived middle school series.

I used six strategies while reading two before, two during and two after.

The P.O.O. Is chronological order, it is this because it goes by time. P.O.V. Is 1^st person because The main character was speaking. The author's purpose was to entertain with a story of a girl and her first 1^st week and a half in middle school.

This book is about a girl who just finished summer camp and can't wait to see her best friend Addie, and her other friends Rachel and Felicia so they can handle their first year of middle school [sixth grade]. But when she gets there she finds out that summer while Jenny was at summer camp Addie spent the whole summer at swim camp with the popular girls! Now Addie doesn't want to hang out with Jenny because it will lower her coolness factor and she won't get to hang out with the popular kids anymore. All she has Is Rachel and Felicia and they don't have the same lunch schedule as Jenny. So the whole week she sits in crazy places for lunch [hence, the title] with no friends, once she even sat in a phone booth! She even got sent on a wild goose chase by some 8^th graders to find the pool, but there isn't one!Then she meets Chloe, Marilyn, Carolyn, Marc, Liza and Josh. She befriends them and they start to hang out and one day, Addie just gets on Jenny's last nerve and Jenny throws a pudding cup at her, then Addie and Jenny are having their own personal food fight. At the end everyone in school cheers Jenny, and the mean 8^th graders that pranked her apologized.

The figurative language are similes & metaphors.

The genre of this book is realistic fiction. There is no sub- genre.

I would rate this book 7/10 because it was cute,very releatable, and it had quizzes in the middle that Jenny “ would take”.I would recommend this book to girlsages 11-14 who are in middle school. IF YOU ARE THIS TYPE OF PERSON THEN I RECOMMEND IT TO YOU IF YOU ARE NOT DON'T!
