Dear Ms.Zrhien, I just finished reading FOUR TRUTHS AND A LIE BY: Lauren Barnholdt. I got this book on my own no one recommended it. It is about a girl named Scarlett. Who is a high class, boy crazy, drama queen. Who is so caught up in a secret about her dad and boys that her mother sends her to an all girls boarding school! Of course Scarlett's life is over! And the reason she's at Brookline Academy (school) is because her Dad was the CEO of a company called Web Workz, But he stole money from the company and got fired. At school everyone was being mean to Scarlett and everyone turns on her. Then at the end of the school year her mom sends her to Brookline. And the crazy gym teacher is on her to join the basket ball team plus, her roommate hasn't been very inviting. But one day she received an anonymous letter, letting her know more will continue the letter(s) are about four truths and a lie, that the person will send her 5 statements 4 will be true and one a lie. And if she doesn't participate she will be “destined for darkness”. Because the person sending her the letters knos her secret... As I was reading this book I was wondering who was sending her these letters. Before I started reading this book I looked at the cover to try and figure out what it was about then, I read the back summary. As I am reading this book I re-read what I read if I dont under stand. And I plan ahead how many pages I am going to read. After I read this book I will summarize in my head what it was about, then talk to people about it. After I am done with this book I will read: The Secret Identity of Devon Delaney by: Lauren Barnholt. Sincerely, Shianne Salazar
Dear Shianne,
ReplyDeleteI think you did a really good job exept there wasn't enough information. what was the conflict? How did Scarlett find a solution? Did using the strategies in this book really help you??? I really want to know what scarlett's secret was. Did the book say what her secret was??? You should really be more specific in the information that you write down...
When I first read this blog it seemed really interesting to me. But I really think you should have elaborated more so that someone who reads this can understand the meaning of the book. At the end of the book, did the author say who was writing the notes? Did scarlet know the person who was writting the letters???
sincerely,
melinda hebert
Dear Shianne,
ReplyDeleteI love your book report but what was your favorite part of this book? Do you know what city or state this book is in? What was the weather like? Did you see any figurative language in this book? What would you rate this book? Was the conflict internal or external?
I loved the way you very detail explained the conflict. Also how you wrote the next book you will read. Last do you think that you would have reacted different then Scarlet?
-Gabi :)
dear shianne,
ReplyDeletethe readers journal was very good and amazing with the summaries. although the first thing on the list says that it must be 2-3 page long. you did not include the mood of the book. how did you feel when you read this story (good, mad, surprised, etc.). you also didnt include the tone of this book how do you think the author felt while reading this book.
furthermore, its is important that you follow the fiction rubric. you didnt include the significants of the book. what is the point of view in this story? you have included the summary in great detail, but you didnt include the conflict: internal external: man vs, self, nature, society, supernature, or man.
sincerely ofek peer
Dear Melinda, I realized i didn't put enough information. But, i am prepared to answer all of your questions, and i will take everything you said into consideration. your first question was: what was the conflict? answer: Crissa (roommate) was Jelous that James (Crissa's ex. boyfriend that goes to Brokeline for boys) and Scarlett were pen pales, and the fact that James might be in to Scarlett. Question #2: How did Scarlett find the solution? answer: Scarlett confronted the person that was sending her the letters. Question #3: Did using these strategies really help you? answer: Honestly not really, the only one was summarizing in my head. Question #4: Did the book say what her secret was? answer: her secret was that her dad stole money from Web Workz but it was totally my flout i guess i didn't make her secret clear. Question #5: And the person who was writing the letter was... Crissa it was really shocking. . . . Sincerly, Shianne :D
ReplyDeleteDear Gabby, First, thank you. My favorite part of the book was when Scarlett got her first letter because she thought it was just a practical joke. No, it didn't say a City or State. I guess chilly, because it was the beginning of the school year and school always starts in fall. No, no figurative language, sadly. Definitely a 5/5 it was so d good, because one thing lead to another it was amazing. The conflict was internal it was Jealousy. No because, i would have been too afraid to go the extremes that Scarlett did to keep her secret Sincerely, Shianne Salazar
ReplyDeleteDear Ofek, I really appreciate what you wrote. I make sure I do all of that. The mood, antagonists, follow the rubric, everything. But it kind of bothered me that you didn't ask ANY question about the book. Not that i didn't appreciate it but now i have nothing to really reply about. And the book was in first person point of view. Sincerly , Shianne Salazar
