It's Raining Cupcakes

Dear Mrs.Zrihen,

I picked this book because it looked interesting. The two stratiges I used before reading this book are: 1. I read the back of the book summary, to get the feel of the book before I read it. 2. I also skimed through the book for some figerative language & and text features. The two stratiges i used during the book were: 1. After every chapter I read i summerized in my head everything that just happend. 2. Right before i finished a chapter i went to the next chapter and looked at the title to interpret what it would be about. And, two stratiges I used after I read this book were: 1. I rememberd what i read chapter by chapter. 2. Then i went and dissused the book with my mom.

The genre of this book is realistic fiction, it is realistic fiction because the events that took place cold happend in real life. The characters are: Isabel,  her Mom, her Dad,Sophie, her Grandma, they are the main charcters. The protaganists are: Isabel, her Dad & Sophie. The antaganists are: Isabels Mom & and at one point (but not for long) Sophie.

The book is about a girl named Isabel. She has lived in Oregon since birth and hasn't been anywhere BUT Oregon. Isabel's mom loves to bake so much that Isabel's father finds an old  laundermate with an appartment right above an appartment and they buy it and her mom is determined to turn it into a cupcake shop. So Isabel has to move about 15 minutes away from where she used to live (but it feels like hours for her)now she lives and Willow,Oregon and she's dying to leave. Her whole life  she's wanted to travel the world. Her mom isn't selfish  she just dosen't think about how others fell and has Isabel and her father running behind her. And her mom is very quick to give up. So to get out of Oregon she signs up for a baking contest her BFF Sophie found in a baking magizine for kids and the grnd prize is $1,000 and a trip to New York! She signs up and wants to do a choclate tart recipe but her mom is pressring her to do a cupcake recipe she "does the right thing" and does a cupcake recipe. Then later on a reporter interviews her family and  Sophie, and askes them about the grand opening og "It's Raining Cupcakes" (the name of the shop) and Isabel says something stupid nd to cover it up Sophie says something else but Isabel is jelous that Sophie is "good at everything" and they have a fight. In the ending they open up the shop and Isabel becomes a finalsit in the contest and her mom submites her tart recipe to surrprise her and realizes she has been selfish.

The tone of this book is fast paste and humerous because Isabel is a very silly girl and weird things always happen to her. The figaretive langue were simmalies & medafors. the book was written at Isabels point of view.

I recoomend this book to girls the age of 9-14.

      Sincerly, Shianne Salazar
