RJ #17

Dear Mrs. Zrihen,

I currently finished reading, Wayside school gets a little stranger. By: Louis Sachar. I have read Holes, one of his books so I thought I would read this one. This is thrid and final book in the wayside school series. Yes, I have read book 1 and 2. But, I have never done a journal on either.i liked the last chapter called: The little stranger. I liked this chapter because, I realized that the book is not called Wayside school gets a little stranger because it is stranger ( which it is) but because, they meet a little stranger, Mrs. Jewle's baby.

I used six strategies while reading, 2 before, 2 during and 2 after.

2 before
I read the synopsis
  1. I read book 1 and 2

2 during:

  1. after every chapter I would summarize what I read
  2. if I did not understand something I would re-read it.

2 after:

  1. I summarized the whole book in my head
  2. I discussed it with my mom
The genre of this book is humor, the sub genre would be fantasy, because it has things like people with a third ear on their head. The protagonists are: Louis, The students, Mrs. Jewels, and Miss. Mush. The antagonist are: Mrs. Drazil, Mrs. Nogard , and Mr. Gorf.
The P.O.O. Is chronological order, it is this because it goes by time. P.O.V. Is 3rd person because someone was narrating, the narrator knew what they were thinking and knew what they knew, nothing more. The author's purpose was to entertain with a hilarious story about a messed up school.

This book is about the grand re-opening of Wayside School after the cow flood. The student finally get back to Wayside. But everybody on the 3oth floor insist the school has gotten bigger. Mrs. Jewles announces she's has a baby and has to go on leave, so they will get a sub teacher, Mr. Gorf, they relizes Mr. Gorf is Mrs. Gorf's son, and Mr. Gorf is out to steal their mommies away from the just like how they did to him. They get rid of him, then they get Mrs. Drazil, she is a control freak that Louis had many years ago, and she makes him cut off his mustache, she may be the nicest teacher they ever had but she mad Louis cut of his mustache, SHE MUST GO. They get rid of her, by finding a student she used to have many years ago, that never did her homework, but moved, they found her then when Mrs. Drazil got her she chased her until no one will ever see either of them again. Then they get Ms. Nogard, she is an evil, cruel lady, but they don't know that, she has three, ears I mean, the third is on top of her head, that one can hear thoughts. One day she was at the art museum and she saw a shy man she heard his thought that she liked him, they started dating, then a month later he proposed, she wouldn’t marry him until she showed him her ear, when he saw it he left her, to become a heart breaker. She became a bitter and evil person, whenever she heard someone thinking happy thoughts she'd do and saw whatever to make them sad. So she became a sub teacher. If some was thinkingplease don't call on me! I don't know the answer! She'd cal on them. Until Mrs. Jewels had her baby and she tried to listen to the baby's thoughts all she heard was enough love to knock her senses back.

The figurative language are similes, metaphors and personification.

I would rate this book 10/10 because it was hilarious, and a quick read and it was very descriptive. I would recommend this book to kids ages 11-14 who love to read funny books with a good story behind it. IF YOU ARE THIS TYPE OF PERSON THEN I RECOMMEND IT TO YOU IF YOU ARE NOT DON'T!

P.S. IF YOU DO NOT PLAN ON READING MY RJ DO NOT COMMENT, I WILL JUST GET REALLY MAD AND WILL JUST IGNORE YOUR “QUESTION

Why did you underline little in the first paragraph?

  2. Dear Erika,
I did not need to underline the title because I used italics.
Yes, there was pretty much nothing I did not understand.
The clues are the fact that it is going by time ->
I underlined it so that you could see my point.

    Thanks, Shianne
